Vol. 1 Pg. 13
New page here!
Doing something different for the vote incentives this time! Instead of just giving you the next storyboard, I'm tossing out some city sketches. Why? Cause the storyboard for the next page was rather sparse and I thought this might be more informative.
At the Buzzcomix vote, you'll be seeing the first time I drew a few of the Luminaries buildings, before I even knew they were the Luminaries. It establishes my look of sagging buildings tethered together.
Topwebcomics, however, has something much more interesting. A map of the city E'tan just got out of, as well as the first drawing of the Archivists Guild. Careful readers will notice that the building has changed a wee bit since. That.. and there's the Lighthouse. Only the single most important structure in each city. The Lighthouse's beacon keeps out the Dark. (Or Black, Foul, Hunger.. whichever name you call them at the time. The Dark is a more literal translation of the Luminaries term for them. Bad monsters, let's put it that way. You'll see one soon.. and it's mentally scarring. I assure you.)
The beacons have to have their power sung back into them every few years, sometimes longer if you get more powerful Weavers to sing the words. Otherwise, the light fails and the city plunges into darkness. ...you don't want that.
